AWS is a long-standing national drug and alcohol conference in Queensland jointly presented by the Queensland Network of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies (QNADA) and Lives Lived Well, one of Queensland’s leading non-profit alcohol and other drug service providers.

In 2017 the conference celebrates its 30th year. Over two days delegates can explore the complex intersection between alcohol and other drugs and other sectors with the themes of Collaborate, Coordinate and Integrate.

We will be drilling down into topics of prevention, harm reduction and treatment. With a focus on innovative practice and new ideas, we will spark partnerships, inspire delegates and advance best practice. The conference will include memorable keynote presentations, engaging panel discussions and interactive breakout presentation sessions.

Why you should attend

Winter School provides a great opportunity for delegates to hear from leading local and international researchers and practitioners, update their skills and knowledge, and network with colleagues and peers – examining prevention, treatment and harm reduction, discussing research and emerging trends and identifying ways to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the sector.

AWS aims to support health care professionals in developing skills and knowledge in responding to and treating alcohol and drug related issues, including mental health. The conference brings together practitioners, researchers, policy makers and workers from across the sector including community and private practice and all levels of government. AWS also provides an important forum for cross-disciplinary dialogue.

Is AWS the event for me?

AWS suits those working in alcohol and other drugs, including nurses, allied health, GPs and other support agencies. It also appeals to those working in EDs and mental health care.
